Thousands of kids helped break an attendance record today at the Wright State women's basketball game.

Padraic McMeel, senior assistant athletic director for external operations, said Tuesday was Education Day for elementary and middle school students from several area districts, including Beavercreek, Kettering, Dayton, Eaton, Carlisle, Springfield, Covington (OH), Fairborn, Franklin, Jamestown, Vandalia, Hillsboro, Huber Heights, New Paris, Xenia, Oakwood, Centerville, and Trotwood.

More than 7,500 were in attendance for the game against Bowling Green. The Raiders lost the game 69-48, but the event was educational, McMeel said. The students in attendance were also treated to other activities and gift bags while at the Wright State Nutter Center.

McMeel said they plan to make Education Day an annual event and possibly expand it to other sports, such as volleyball and men's basketball.

The Raiders (6-4) are on the road for the next five games. Their next home game will be Jan. 5 versus Milwaukee.
