Cultural competence is considered an ethical imperative in social work and many other helping professions.  Dr. Hilary Weaver, professor and associate dean for Academic Affairs in the SUNY University at Buffalo School of Social Work, will describe contemporary issues for Native American people and will discuss specific elements of cultural competence in working with indigenous People in the United States.
