Automated External Defibrillator Units (AEDs)

An Automated External Defibrillator or AED is used to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. An AED should only be used on someone who is unconscious, without a pulse, and who is not breathing. The AED will analyze the heart rhythm and advise the operator if a shockable rhythm is detected. If a shockable rhythm is detected, the AED will charge to the appropriate energy level and advise the operator to deliver a shock. Training is generally not required to use an AED, however, CPR training can enhance your understanding of proper emergency response to a cardiac event.

Water System

Wright State University operates its own public drinking water system that draws water from the Mad River Buried Valley Aquifer. The Water Treatment Plant has been supplying drinking water to the university since 1977. We meet and usually exceed the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency. A report about the water quality is created and disseminated annually to the campus community. This report contains general health information, water quality test results, potential sources of drinking water contamination, and persons to contact regarding the Wright State water system. We have a current, unconditional license to operate our water system.

Wright State University has an emergency connection with the City of Fairborn for use during emergency conditions and only after approval from the city. Such emergencies include, but are not limited to power failures, fires, maintenance or repairs, and severe drought. On average this connection is used three times a year with each use usually less than eight hours in duration. This report does not include information on the water supplied from the City of Fairborn. A copy of Fairborn’s consumer confidence report can be obtained by contacting the Fairborn Water Department at 937-754-3097.
