University General Education Committee: Henry Limouze, UGEC Chair, reported on committee's actions per the minutes of November 19, 2004 January 7, 2005. In regard to the meeting of January 7, a draft proposal for the GE Transfer Module to be submitted to the Ohio Board of Regents (OBR) was distributed. The UCAPC granted approval to UGEC to proceed with the submission (or a UGEC modified version) of the Transfer Module to the Faculty Senate. Approved A.A. Liberal Studies as follows (although it was noted that the DEV 093 course is incorrect and needs to be changed to DEV 095): Academic Policy: Distance Learning Programs The committee reviewed and
discussed the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA)
policy that all distance learning degree programs must receive prior
approval from NCA before they are offered by WSU. The committee briefly
reviewed the documentation that is required for submission to NCA. It
was agreed that a university curriculum policy and procedure will be
developed to address the NCA requirements. A policy will be drafted and
reviewed in a special meeting to be held by UCAPC on January 18. The
special meeting was called in the hope of submitting a policy
proposal to the Faculty Senate at its February 7 meeting.
For UCAPC's meeting of February 8, proposals must be received no later than 12:00 noon January 27. Proposals received after that deadline will be placed on the March agenda. |
