Since the start of the academic year, the UCAPC met on September 28 and October 26. Starting with the second meeting, there was a change in membership with Jennie Gallimore replacing Amer Maher as the CECS representative for the remainder of the academic year. In addition, Mindy Young has been appointed as the Lake Campus representative. A brief outline of the committee's work to date is as follows::

Course Inventory and Modification

Reviewed 47 Course Inventory (25) and Modification (22) requests from colleges: CECS (5), CEHS (13), COBA (2), COLA (16), COSM (11). Approved 43. Four are pending further review or resubmission.

Joe Law, Coordinator of WAC and Associate Professor of English was appointed as Chair of the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee

Rehabilitation Services Major (CEHS) Change Approved

Change from 35 to 31 elective hours
Add 4 hours to major requirement
Total degree requirement remains unchanged at 192 hours

Mass Communication Major (COLA) Proposed Specialization Approved

Creation of Visual Communication Specialization
Interdisciplinary with Departments of Art and Art History and English
Departmental Requirements: 55/56 hours Total Requirements: 192 hours

Per the October 2, 2000 Faculty Senate charge to the UCAPC, the committee started its review of the Guidelines Governing the Implementation of the Registration and Add Policy and the Attendance and Drop Policy issued by the Office of the Provost, August 15, 2000.
