Wright State University Undergraduate Admission Policy
Wright State accepts transfer students with an overall grade point average of 2.0 (out of 4.0 scale) (from the last institution that they attempted 12 quarter/9 semester hours or more).
However, admission to many of our majors require a higher GPA (and more).
Check out an abbreviated summary of the entrance requirements for specific majors below. The requirements are organized by colleges, then departments.

Grade point averages are cumulative (including all institutions attended, unless labeled otherwise).
Acceptable transfer credit will satisfy any of the requirements.
Business
(Majors in Accountancy, Business Economics, Finance, Financial Services, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Operations Management)
The college has a two-tier admission process:
Tier I: 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA, 45 quarter hours (or 30 semester hours), completion of ENG 101 and 102 and either MTH 128 or 129 (or a higher-level math course) with a grade of C or higher.
Students who meet the Tier I requirements will be assigned to a pre-business category and will be required to meet the following Tier II requirements before they can enroll in junior- or senior-level business classes.
Tier II: ACC 204, 205, EC 204, 205, MS 204, 205, CS 205, and MTH 228

Education and Human Services
Athletic Training
- A 250-word or less life experience statement; medical history; technical standards form; high school and college (if applicable) transcripts; copy of Wright State acceptance letter; formal application; three letters of recommendation from a current or former employer/administrator, a current or former teacher, and a certified athletic trainer or coach; and interview.
- Application deadline for every fall entrance is March 1.
Career and Technical Teacher Licensure (Formerly Vocational Education)
- Individuals interested in obtaining initial education teacher licensure and endorsements are encouraged to contact the college's Office of Student Services in 378 Allyn Hall, (937) 775-3086, to begin the process of admission and advising.
Early Childhood Education (PK–3)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5; 45 quarter/30 semester hours; Praxis I (Scores of 175 for Reading, 173 for Writing, & 174 for Math); a 250-500 word writing sample [call (937) 775-3086 to register for a writing sample session]; two letters of recommendation; and formal application
Health & Physical Education

1) Associate Degree, cumulative GPA of 2.0

2) Cumulative GPA of 2.0; 90 quarter/60 semester hours; completion of two courses in the following areas: accounting, economics, marketing, finance, and statistics (Courses may be 100- or 200-level and must come from two different disciplines)

- Cumulative GPA of 2.25, completion of MP 131 and 180 with a grade of "A" or "B"
Music
- Audition, three outside recommendations, formal application
Social Science Education
Social Work
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25; completion of SW 270 and 271 with a grade of C or higher in each and a satisfactory performance evaluation from the instructor; completion of SW 272 with a grade of C or higher; completion of EC 200 or 290, PLS 200 or 212, SOC 200, PSY 105, 341, BIO 105 or 107, and COM 104; two professional letters of reference; personal statement; criminal records disclosure form; and formal application
- Application deadline is January 8. Students are admitted into the major once a year.
- Admission to the Social Work program is very competitive.

Nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5; 48 quarter/32 semester hours; a minimum GPA of 2.5 in all prerequisite courses; completion of ENG 101, 102, PSY 105, 110, BIO 105*, CHM 101*, 102, SOC 200, ANT 310, STT 160, and M&I 220 with a grade of C or higher; a 250–word–or–less life experience statement; and formal application (PDF).
- *BIO 105 will be waived for students who completed one year of high school biology with a C or better.
- *CHM 101 will be waived for students who completed one year of high school chemistry with a C or better.
- Application deadlines are June 15 for fall and December 15 for spring terms.
- Admission to the nursing program is very competitive.

Science & Mathematics
All College of Science and Mathematics majors require:
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0, 24 quarter/16 semester hours, completion of two courses in chosen major with a grade of C or higher
Additional requirements for specific majors:
Biological Sciences (all options), Biological Science Education, and Clinical Laboratory Science
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25, 2.25 GPA from all biology courses (a minimum of two biology classes must be taken)
Mathematics and Statistics
- Completion of MTH 229 & 230 with a grade of C or higher in each course; 2.5 GPA or higher for the average of two math courses, MTH 229 & 230
Psychology
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25, 30 quarter/20 semester hours, 2.25 GPA from all psychology courses (a minimum of two psychology classes must be taken)
