Research Incentive Program

The WSU Research Incentive Program (not to be confused with the similarly-named statewide program managed by the Ohio Board of Regents) is under the direction of the Research Council, which is composed of members appointed by the dean of each school/college plus two members from Research and Sponsored Programs. The Research Council is chaired by the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies. The program has three components: Research Inititation, Professional Development, and Research Travel. Competitions for Research Initiation and Professional Development grants are conducted during the Winter Quarter with published deadline dates.

The following message was sent to faculty on February 18, 2008:

    Dear Faculty:

As you know there are permanent budget cuts taking place at WSU and my office is no exception. I could not avoid eliminating some faculty support programs due to the size of the cut. All of the internal award programs are currently already operating with insufficient funds so I felt that program elimination was the only way to address the problem. I therefore chose to eliminate the faculty travel program entirely effective immediately. I am sorry to do this, but there were few other viable options.

    Yours,

Jack Bantle, Vice President for Research & Graduate Studies

P.S. Please be assured that all obligations for FY 07-08 Research Travel Grant awards made to date will be honored.
