Your Award Notice

The Award Notice displays financial aid awards based upon full-time enrollment at Wright State University, even if you do not plan to enroll full-time. Once you accept your financial aid awards and register for classes, the amount and type of aid that will pay towards your bill will be based on your registered credit hours. Visit our Receiving Your Aid page for more information.

Financial aid awards are determined annually and are based upon Wright State University's cost of attendance and your financial need for the given aid year. Your combined financial aid awards cannot exceed the cost of attendance for the aid year.

The cost of attendance includes allowances for:

  • Tuition
  • Books and supplies
  • Housing and meals (board)
  • Transportation
  • Personal expenses

Your financial aid is determined by subtracting your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from Wright State University's cost of attendance. Your EFC is calculated by the U.S. Department of Education when you file your FAFSA. Your total need-based aid awards (grants, scholarships, employment, and subsidized loans) cannot exceed your financial need (certain types of aid, like the Federal Pell Grant, are excluded from this concept).

Financial Aid for Summer

Summer is the first academic term in the financial aid year. For example, Summer 2014 is the first academic term in the 2014–2015 aid year. Therefore, you must file the 2014–2015 FAFSA to apply for federal student aid for Summer 2014.

In order to receive financial aid for Summer, you must answer Yes to your Summer Enrollment Plans. The Summer Enrollment Plans question appears as a financial aid requirement in WINGS Express when the Office of Financial Aid processes your FAFSA (see the processing schedule on our Important Dates page).
