[OFFICIAL-L] Academic Efficiency and Effectiveness Review website and rubric available

Dear Colleagues,

As you may have heard, the Office of the Provost has been charged by the Board of Trustees with evaluating the university’s academic programs to identify their relative effectiveness and efficiency to support more strategic resource allocation. This type of review is a best practice process that should be undertaken each year at the college level and every five to seven years at the institutional level to assess the effectiveness of the programs offered at Wright State.

Details of the Academic Efficiency and Effectiveness Review are now available on the Academic Affairs website. This webpage will be updated regularly. This email is intended to point you to the website and update you on the committee’s progress.

The Academic Efficiency and Effectiveness Review Committee will look at quantitative data compiled by the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and qualitative information provided by the departments or programs. This qualitative information will be used to assess program mission, outcomes, and quality and assist the Review Committee in developing a fuller understanding of the programs being reviewed.

The Review Committee has developed a qualitative rubric to collect qualitative information we will use in the evaluation of our institution’s programs. Department chairs received this rubric on Friday, September 15. Completed rubrics are due back to the Review Committee on October 6. The rubric is available on the Academic Efficiency and Effectiveness Review website, or you can download the form (PDF).

Chairs will reach out to program directors and others for information soon. Please give them any assistance requested.

Best,

Amy Thompson, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
