Mission

The Academic Engagement Unit fosters a supportive and welcoming environment that promotes the success of Wright State University students. Through evidence-based practices, strategic outreach, collaborative programming, and a dedicated student centric model, we teach lifelong success strategies that equip students with the tools needed to succeed at the university, the workplace, and beyond.

Vision

The Academic Engagement Unit envisions Wright State University as a national leader in student-centered academic engagement. Our vision is to ensure every student is equipped to thrive academically and personally, reflected in measurable improvements in retention, persistence, course completion, and graduation rates.
 

Goals

We are committed to the following core goals:

  • Creating a Safe and Supportive Space
    • Provide a welcoming environment where all students feel safe, respected, and supported.
  • Teaching Academic and Lifelong Success Strategies
    • Equip students with the tools and strategies needed to succeed in their academic pursuits, professional careers, and personal lives.
  • Raising Awareness of First-Generation College Student Experiences
    • Highlight and support the unique experiences of first-generation college students to enhance their academic journey.
  • Promoting Family Engagement in Student Success
    • Recognize and elevate the role of family in a student's educational journey through targeted outreach and engagement initiatives.
  • Aiding in the Increase of Student Retention, Persistence, Course Completion, and Graduation Rates
    • Implement and support innovative initiatives that directly impact key student success metrics, ensuring students not only enroll, but thrive and graduate.
  • Fostering Collaboration Across Campus and Community
    • Strengthen partnerships among faculty, staff, students, alumni and the broader community to build a thriving, student-centric culture.
  • Increasing Access
    • Enhance opportunities for achievement by connecting students with essential strategies and resources through intentional campus and community partnerships.
