Wright State Employee Health Screenings

Flu Vaccines

On this page:

Overview

Wright State will continue to provide free flu vaccines for benefit-eligible employees at no cost while supplies last. Human Resources and the College of Health, Education, and Human Services have collaborated again to administer vaccines and since the university’s medical plan is self-funded, providing on-campus flu vaccines is a lower cost option for Wright State.

Everyone is encouraged to receive a flu vaccine. Individuals who are most at risk of contracting the flu are individuals over age 65, under age 65 who have a chronic health condition such as heart, lung, or kidney disease or diabetes or are caregivers to people in these categories, all women who will be pregnant during the flu season, health-care workers involved in direct patient care, out-of-home caregivers and people with children younger than 6 months in the household.

Requirements

  1. Must be an active benefit-eligible employee.
  2. Schedule an appointment to receive a vaccine.
  3. Bring a completed Influenza Immunization Consent Form (PDF) to the appointment. If you are pregnant, please bring your physician’s signed authorization to receive the vaccine.

Additional Information

  1. Employees must present either a State issued ID or a Wright1 Card.
  2. Wear a loose-fitting shirt/top or a short-sleeved shirt/top to allow the nurse to administer the vaccine in the left or right deltoid on one of your arms.
  3. Request your copy of the Influenza Immunization Consent Form (PDF) during the appointment. Copies will be sent via secure email by November 10, 2023.

Unable to Schedule an On-Campus Appointment

Retail pharmacies in the Wright State’s medical plan network (CVS, Kroger, Walmart, Sam’s Club, etc.) will vaccinate employees and their dependent family members (over 7 years of age) enrolled in a university medical plan at no charge and with no prescription. Simply present your Anthem medical ID card, and you will have no out-of-pocket expense for the vaccine.

Flu Vaccine Dates and Times

The College of Health, Education, and Human Services will begin administering vaccines the week of October 16, 2023. The full schedule and links to make an appointment are listed below.

If you have any questions about whether you should receive a flu vaccine, you are encouraged to discuss your situation with your physician or other health care provider. For questions regarding the program, please email hr-benefits@wright.edu.
