Dear Wright State Students:
Welcome, new students, to Wright State University and welcome back returning students. I expect you all know that going to college means classes, books, and studying. It also means grades and a concern for getting good grades.
These aspects of the college experience are a part of this university. The concern with academic achievement is certainly present here and we wish you well in your classes. However, since Wright State is a total university, our concern for students includes a concern for a total college experience achieved through a rich variety of involvement possibilities.
We encourage our students to participate fully in college life and become involved with their university both in and out of the class. Look around and you will readily see things like the student union and fitness center, the student newspaper, athletics, intramurals, sororities and fraternities and over 150 other student organizations. These are activities and programs that complement your academics and contribute to a more enjoyable college experience.
The college experience also means living in a community that is committed to respect and dignity for all and to an environment of openness and civility. This web page provides links to important information for students including the Code of Student Conduct, grievance policies, and other information relative to student rights and responsibilities. Please take the time to review this information. There is also a link to the Office of Student Support Services which has special responsibilities to respond to student concerns.
The offices of the Division of Student Affairs promise to work to make your college experience exciting and rewarding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Good luck and have a great year.
Sincerely,
