How to Join

Fraternities and sororities at Wright State University are organized into three councils, each with its unique focus and heritage. The groups are organized into different councils to provide structure, governance, and support tailored to the unique needs and characteristics of their member organizations.

The College Panhellenic Council governs the National Panhellenic Conference sororities, which empower women, prepare leaders, and make a significant local and global impact. These sororities offer deep sisterhood, authentic connection, and a sense of purpose and belonging that is unmatched on campus, all rooted in rich histories that inspire a modern sorority experience.

Recruitment is year-round, but primary recruitment for CPH organizations occurs in the fall.

Fall Semester 2024 Partially Structured Primary Recruitment

Fall Partially Structure Recruitment is the primary recruitment process used by Panhellenic sororities to add new members. During Fall 2024, sorority recruitment will utilize a partially structured process. In order to allow our potential new members to fit recruitment into busy schedules we are changing to a more relaxed schedule. The timeframe will spread out from Wednesday August 28th through Bid Day on September15th. A more flexible schedule allows interested women to choose times to meet every sorority that fit best in their schedule. Check back on this site and we will add a calendar and guidebook as we get closer to the date!

Five sororities participate in Panhellenic recruitment: Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, and Zeta Tau Alpha.

Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.

Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is Wright State's first Asian-interest, but not Asian-exclusive sorority. This organization does not participate in CPH formal recruitment; instead, it has its own recruitment process.

    Interfraternity Council (IFC) Recruitment

The Interfraternity Council governs our North American Interfraternity Conference fraternities, which draw from their long histories to inspire a modern fraternity experience. These fraternities value brotherhood, purpose, and offer vast networks full of opportunities, constantly innovating to shape the future of fraternity life at Wright State University.

Recruitment is year-round, but formal recruitment for IFC organizations occurs in the first three weeks of both the fall and spring semesters.

    Fall Recruitment
    August 26–September 13, 2024

Three fraternities will participate in fall recruitment: Alpha Sigma Phi, Phi Kappa Tau, and Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Fraternity recruitment at Wright State is “open” style. This means prospective new members (PNMs) can choose which chapters to express interest in, at any point. They are not required to attend events by all the fraternities. However, we encourage you to check out each chapter. Relationship building is the best way to determine which chapter is the best fit for someone going through recruitment. At the very least, you meet a bunch of awesome men and make priceless connections.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Intakephoto of two students sitting outside on campus

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) represents our historically African-American fraternities and sororities. Founded to uplift African-American students, these chapters continue to champion the cause of uplifting all men and women, particularly those who have been disenfranchised. They exemplify their historical cause in today's world, embodying the spirit of fraternity and sorority life at Wright State University.

Recruitment is through a membership intake process. Chapters select, educate, and initiate new members at a time deemed by the specific organization. NPHC groups do not accept first-semester, first-year students.

Four fraternities and sororities take part in the intake process: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
