Oelman Hall, the second building in the Founders' Quadrangle, now houses the Chemistry department, various university departments, and classrooms. Brehm Lab was an addition completed in 1973. The building was named in honor of Robert S. Oelman, first chair of the WSU Board of Trustees, and co-chair with Stanley C. Allyn, of the university's building fund, which launched the university. Completed in 1966, it housed the Oelman Auditorium which for several years was the only facility for large meetings, performances, and visiting speakers. Oelman Hall also housed the office of founding president, Brage Golding.

2008/2009 building upgrades include new general classrooms, teaching labs, an Earth and Environmental Sciences computer lab, and Chemistry research facilities.
