Safety EscortsFor residential students assigned to park in Lot #20, the WSU Police Department offers a safety escort van. Find out more about this service → The Wright State University Police Department's student patrol officer safety escort service is designed to enhance your safety and peace of mind and provide a greater sense of security for anyone who feels unsafe while walking alone on campus. The goal of this service is to deter assaults, sexual harassment, verbal abuse, or other harassment while you are walking from one location on campus to another. The service is a walking escort and you should assume that you will be given a walking escort. Mobile escorts are available with strict limitations. Who is eligible for escort services?The escort service is free of charge and available to all WSU students, faculty, and staff members. A valid WSU Wright1 ID card is required for all escorts and must be displayed to the escort upon arrival. Who will escort me?Student Patrol officers are student employees employed by the Wright State University Police Department. The student employees are carefully screened and selected prior to their employment with the Wright State University Police Department. All student patrol officers carry a portable radio with direct contact to the Police Department Communications Center. If student patrol officers are not available then a police officer will be dispatched. All of the Police Officers with the Wright State University Police Department are certified police officers who have full police powers. When are the escort services available?Student Patrol Officers are available during the academic year from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.., Monday through Sunday. Safety Vans are provided for Residential students assigned to park in Lot 20 to the ALL On-campus Residential Communities. Transportation is available via 7-passenger van Monday through Thursday from 10:00 pm until 2:50 am. and Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 2:50 a.m. when Safety Plus Vans are available. Parking and Transportation provides bus transportation to main campus beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Mondays. Where can I be escorted to?Student Patrol officers provide walking escorts to or from any campus location. Student patrol officers are not to escort anyone to or from an off campus locations. How can I become a member of the Student Patrol?There are currently no open positions. Mobile Escort ServiceThe Wright State University Police Department does also provide a mobile police safety escort, however, availability is only when it is determined to be necessary and when resources are available. When a police officer from the Wright State University Police Department is dispatched to escort you while on campus, the escort will be a walking escort unless a mobile escort is reasonable and appropriate in accordance with the attendant circumstances. All mobile police safety escorts will be provided by a police officer in a marked WSU Police Department police cruiser. The following incidents may result in a mobile escort being denied:
