This art and poetry collaboration culminates in the presentation of “Why Can’t We: A Love Letter to Black Women." This exhibit explores the relationship between the many ways that black women are expected to show up in the world and the ways that they do. Each piece of art depicts a portrait of a black woman with an accompanying piece of poetry that challenges an expectation of black women with the truth of their lived experiences.
