Welcome to the School of Professional Psychology (SOPP) at Wright State University. We have celebrated our 30th anniversary of the SOPP and 20th anniversary of our community-based teaching facility and clinic, the Duke E. Ellis Human Development Institute. On October 16, 2009, these two milestones were recognized as we celebrated by hosting the SOPP's first ever Black Tie Gala at the Schuster Center's Winter Garden. Indeed, this was a wonderful way to recognize the rich SOPP history, sharing with many guests from the community what we have to offer and at the same time gathering with the intention of raising funds for SOPP student scholarships.
In attendance among several hundred who joined us that evening were many distinguished guests, including the City of Dayton's Mayor, the 40th Ohio District's state representative and the University President and Provost, along with prominent citizens of the Miami Valley community and many of our current graduate students. In the week that followed the Gala, plans were put in place to host an annual event with the common goal to raise funds for need-based student scholarships every year.
The brilliance, expertise, and richness of our school continues to allow the SOPP faculty, staff, and students to lead by example in the community and nationally as well. The School of Professional Psychology is held in high esteem and remains one of the U.S.'s top PsyD programs. Also, within the Wright State University community, we also are very highly regarded.
Many of our faculty and students continue to receive prestigious awards for their innovative research, ground-breaking clinical programs and the school's cutting-edge diversity model. We will continue to be a leader among doctoral programs of professional psychology.
I welcome you to contact us about our doctoral program, scholarships, faculty research or philanthropic fund raising.
All the best,
Larry C. James, Ph.D., ABPP
