Transfer Student Orientation

Welcome to the Wright State Community!

We are excited that you are joining our Wright State family.

You should log into your Admissions Portal at wright.edu/apply to review your "Status", "Required Documents", and "Next Steps" fields in your Portal to ensure that you are on track. Consult your Transfer and Adult Student Checklist (PDF) which will provide you with important information regarding your admission and transition process.

Your Next Steps

Academic Advising and Class Registration

The next step in your transition process is to meet with an academic advisor and register for your Fall Semester classes. An academic advisor is a specialist in guiding students, as well as your partner in creating a schedule of classes for your first semester! Your advisor is a professional advising expert who will assist you in formulating a path to academic success and achieving your goals.

There are three stages to the advising and registration process:

  1. Identify the Wright State Academic College in which you have been admitted. Your academic college can be found by accessing your WINGS Express account. Once you have logged in to WINGS Express, select the "Student and Financial Aid" tab. Then click on the "Registration and Records" link.  Then click on "View Student Information." Your college is located under "Curriculum Information" at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Schedule an advising appointment by contacting the college in which you are admitted. You may schedule an appointment with your academic advisor at any time, or you may attend a Transfer Advising Session (details listed in the "Step Two" tab under "Option B").
  3. Log in to your WINGS Express account and register for the classes you have selected. Your academic advisor will provide you with step-by-step instructions.

Register for Orientation -Transfer Student Program Options

Transfer and Nontraditional Students who have been admitted to the university for Fall Semester are recommended to attend a Spring Orientation Program, or the Transfer Transition Program. We want you to feel comfortable navigating campus from your first day through graduation, so your time at Wright State is truly transformative.

Please select one of the following options:

Option A - SPRING SEMESTER Orientation

These comprehensive Spring Semester Orientation sessions include a special track designed for YOU - Transfer and Adult Students!  This track is designed to take advantage of your previous experience and build upon it. For example, you already know what a Registrar is, however, you need to know details specific to Wright State’s Registrar.

During this full day program, you will be able to meet with representatives from your Academic College to learn about Internship and other opportunities, learn about Wright State's Support Services, meet other Transfer, Nontraditional, and current students, set up our campus accounts, and receive your Student ID.  You will also have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor if you have not already done so.  This program begins at 8:30 a.m. and wraps up around 3 p.m.
