Mission

The Ujima Mentoring Community is a program offered by the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center targeted to first- year African and  African American students who would like to improve their chances of success by attaining a job on campus and having their supervisor serve as their mentor. The program assists first-year students in making a smooth transition from high school to college. The program kicks off with an early arrival session that takes place before official move-in day on campus and at the start of the school year freshmen are matched with their employer, mentors. Ujima takes place for students’ entire freshmen year and outside of work students will meet twice a month in order to cultivate leadership, build a program community, and have fun during social programs put on by Ujima staff.

"If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together"
