Wright State University Staff Council Minutes
Wednesday, June 11, 2008
The WSU Staff Council met on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 2:30 pm, in Room 267 University Hall.
Present: Council Members: George Collins, Barbara Bullock, Mary Healea, Joanie Hendricks, Fran Keeley, Greg Kojola, John Sheidler, Vickie Slone, and
Convener, Bill Rickert.
1. Staff Council Annual Summary for 2007-08
Bill Rickert distributed a summary of Staff Council actions during 2007-08 (attached). He went over the items on the summary with the Council, and a couple minor changes were made.
The Council asked that staff be informed about Albert Bondurant’s role as a staff liaison. Bill said he will speak with Albert first, before publicizing his role to all staff.
Barbara Bullock and Fran Keeley had given the staff survey summary to Dr. Steven Angle, Provost, for review, before making it broadly available to staff. Barb and Fran will also thank those staff who had worked on the staff survey on the USAC and CSAC websites.
Bill was asked if the problem of salary compression for classified staff would be addressed in the 2008 salary increases. He said no, that the salary increases would be strictly across-the-board and merit.
2. Human Resources Advisory Committee
This committee will act as a two-way communication between Human Resources (HR) and WSU staff. The committee will meet twice this summer to get started. It will consist of all Staff Council members from 2007-08 plus the new members for 2008-09. Linda Stutler will schedule a two-hour meeting in July and one in August 08. It was decided that representatives from HR will be asked to attend the meeting in August.
Bill Rickert, Barb Bullock, and Fran Keeley will meet to review the staff survey results and to develop a preliminary list of issues to present to the committee. The list of issues can be made into a committee agenda at the July meeting.
Bill Rickert said that healthcare information for 2009 will be out early in Fall Quarter 08; that premiums will probably rise about 20% to continue the current coverage; and that a health savings account (HSA) option will likely be available.
He said that parking will be going up no more than $10 per year. He also noted that the parking situation on campus had improved in 2007-08 over 2006-07.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 pm. This was the last WSU Staff Council meeting for 2007-08.
