Susan B. Carrafiello, Ph.D., Director
Dr. Susan Carrafiello, Associate Professor of History, was appointed Director
of the University Honors Program in 2001. She is responsible for the program's
main objectives, emphases, and purposes. As the key advocate for the Honors Program, she
recruits Honors faculty, plans faculty teaching workshops, and fosters development of new
Honors courses and new program initiatives. She works with Dr. Lillie Howard, Associate
Provost for Academic Affairs, and with college deans and department chairs to monitor
Departmental Honors options. Faculty who would like to teach Honors courses should contact
her well before a proposed Honors course is to be scheduled. Honors students who have any
concerns or suggestions about any aspect of the Honors Program are encouraged to visit her
during her weekly open office hours.

Mary
E. Kenton, M.A., Senior Associate Director
Mary Kenton likes to brag that she was on campus the day
Wright State opened. She earned both her bachelors and masters degrees here
and completed the course work for a second masters in counseling. She has been
with the Honors Program for 24 years. She works with students in all phases of
their WSU experience. All first-year students are required to meet with Ms.
Kenton during fall quarter and other students are strongly advised to consult
with her at least once a year. Ms. Kenton often has information about special
opportunities and can help students with scholarship applications, graduate
school decisions, and negotiating the bureaucracies that make modern life such
a challenge.

Amy
Morgenstern, Ph.D., Associate Director
Dr. Amy Morgenstern serves as the resource person and mentor for student
national scholarship competitions such as the Rhodes, Marshall, and
Goldwater scholarships, among others. Students throughout the university
community interested in such opportunities should feel free to contact
her to explore these opportunities and their eligibility for them. Dr.
Morgenstern also teaches interdisciplinary honors courses for the
program. Her courses bring together questions of ethics, creativity,
beauty, eros, and social justice through studies of philosophy,
literature, history, music, and film.

Gaetano "Guy" Guzzo III, Ph.D., Honors Faculty in Residence
Gaetano “Guy” Guzzo is the Honors program’s Faculty in Residence. His role is unique to the Honors Community and exists to support the academic goals of its residents. Dr. Guzzo considers this a “dream job” because it provides the opportunity to facilitate learning beyond the classroom and fosters a positive, collaborative atmosphere between students and the academe. Dr. Guzzo is also an instructor in the Department of Sociology/Anthropology who specializes in applied sociology, rural sociology, program evaluation, organizations, and the Amish. His wide-ranging experiences include serving as a trainer and German translator in the Army, teaching, traveling throughout Europe, operating a Christmas tree farm, and doing consulting work for various organizations.

Lori K. Dock, Administrative Specialist
Lori Dock is new to the Honors program (August 2005) but has been at Wright State since 1984. She is a graduate of the College of Liberal Arts (B.A. English). Her experience at WSU has included working for Developmental Education, Alumni Relations, Liberal Arts, and Development. Lori has enjoyed supporting WSU’s academic and outreach efforts over the years and looks forward to continued service to the Honors program and its exceptional students.
