Inauguration
Kitty expressed her thanks to the members of the unclassified staff who participated
in the inauguration ceremony.
Chair to meet with Jackie Macmillan
Kitty announced that she will be having an introductory meeting with Jackie Macmillan,
new Executive Assistant to the President.
Issues '99 Survey
Verne reported that 175 completed USAC surveys have been received to date.
Preliminary results were discussed. If you have not yet completed the survey,
please do so by January 15. If you did not receive a copy, please contact
Marty Jenkins (x4983).
Student Retention
Verne met with Lynette Heard, who is now heading the university's student
retention efforts, and who would like to be involved in a staff open forum
on this topic. The current plan is for USAC and CSAC to co-sponsor a program
in early March to provide information and answer questions about how staff in
all areas can aid in the effort to retain good students.
University Committee Reports
- Dining Services - One statement in last month's minutes was incorrect.
The sentence reading "Both options would include closure of all other on-campus
operations except the Depot" should be deleted. Further, the committee wishes to
clarify that at no time will the Allyn Hall Lounge and the Bike Shop both be closed.
Rather, each will be closed as its building is renovated, and then re-opened when
renovation is complete. USAC apologizes for any misunderstanding caused by last month's minutes.
- Technology - Donna reported on several new initiatives, including:
implementation of the new mail server; university-wide desktop revisits
for Y2K compliance, software upgrades, etc.; and review of a new draft of
the Technology Plan. Also, an initial version of a new online university
directory is available on the WSU web site.
