Background

James Dunlap is the audio coordinator for the Department of Theatre at Wright State University. He joined the design/ technology team as a full time staff member in 2009 after serving as a sound design consultant on a number of WSU’s musicals. 

Along with his duties at Wright State, James continues to work as a professional sound engineer, designer, audio consultant and stagehand at the best live entertainment venues in the tri-state area.

James is currently the house sound engineer at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering Ohio. He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and he chairs the apprentice education program for IATSE Local 66.

Prior to his work at Wright State James spent many years as the chief audio engineer at Production Solutions Inc.; he also travelled the country as the sound engineer with Rhythm in Shoes and held the position of production manager at Sound Force Inc. 

Over the past 15 years James has been responsible for designing, building and operating live sound systems for hundreds of national touring acts, corporate and political events, theatrical productions, regional symphonies and prominent local performing groups and Dayton arts venues.
