Rachel Snyder has been a Registered Nurse for four years and has been employed at Kettering Medical Center the whole time. She is currently a Staff Nurse II in the Emergency Department. A co‑worker writes that Rachel has blossomed into one of KMC’s most caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic nurses. Rachel is well respected among her colleagues as a strong and effective advocate for patients and their families; she is not afraid to “stick up” for what she believes is right for her patients’ care. Indeed, she is frequently mentioned in patient satisfaction surveys as providing excellent care. Her interactions with each patient and his/her family are kind, compassionate, and sensitive with a perfect blend of professionalism and personalized touch. Rachel shares her clinical knowledge and has served as a preceptor to new nurses and nursing students. Her leadership ability in improving the delivery of care in the Emergency Department has been demonstrated by her skills as a capable charge nurse and as a leader in shared governance. She has served as the co-chair of the Emergency Department’s Unit Council for two years. Rachel earned her B.S.N. from Wright State University. She holds certification in the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum and as an instructor in that area. In addition, she has completed the American College of Surgeons’ Advanced Trauma Life Support Course. She is also a Certified Emergency Nurse.
