Amy Perez - Southview Medical Center

Amy Perez has wanted to be a nurse since she was a little girl. She graduated from Wright State University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and has been a nurse at Southview Medical Center for more than 14 years. Amy is a night shift charge nurse on the Medical Surgery unit. She has won the DAISY award, was a Cameos of Caring nominee in 2015, and a Cameos of Caring winner in 2019. Amy says being a nurse is more than a job or career; it is a way of life. Once a nurse, always a nurse—even on days off. She tells younger nurses to never forget why they chose to become a nurse. She advises other nurses to remember the young person who wanted to help people and make them feel better, and to always be willing to give the care that makes you proud to be a nurse.
