MBA PROGRAM SEMESTER CONVERSION PLANNING GUIDE

Welcome to the MBA Program semester conversion planning guide. Here you will find information on Wright State’s conversion to semesters starting Fall 2012 and how it may affect your program of study. We are here to help! Schedule an appointment with an advisor to ensure you will graduate with the fewest number of credits required. Also, check out our Course Planning Page to find out when your required courses will be offered this year.

*Weekend cohort students will not be affected by the change to semesters as all of the required classes are already scheduled under each cohort section.

44 credit hours

Register for MBA 740 and MBA 770 during the fall and winter quarters. In fall 2012, take the Capstone
Course.

48 credit hours

As long as you’ve taken all of your required MBA coursework, you will graduate under the Quarter System.

The minimum number of semester credits that transitional students need to graduate is 30 SEMESTER CREDITS. A transitional student is one who completes classes under the quarter system and the semester system.

To calculate this for yourself, take the number of credits you will complete under the Quarter System, multiply it by .67 to convert it to semesters, and then subtract that number from 30. If the resulting number is not a multiple of three, round up to the next highest multiple of three. This is the minimum number of credits under the Semester System you will need to graduate.

For example,
12 x .67 = 8
30 – 8 = 22

The next highest multiple of three is 24, so you would have 24 more credits to finish the MBA.
24 credits = 8 courses

Semester courses are three credit hours each, so in this case you would have eight more courses.

Oval: Step 2What classes do I still need to take?
All students must complete the MBA core courses listed on the right or their equivalents listed on the left. Equivalent coursework for the MBA core is color-coded. Match up the courses you’ve taken, and then complete the remaining foundation, core, and concentration courses on the right. For the MBA concentration, any combination of courses listed under the Quarter System or Semester System is sufficient for graduation. Make sure the number of courses you have left matches the number from the table in Step 1.

Note: Students who begin the program before Fall 2012 are not required to take MBA 5400 Survey of Business Law.
