Application and Admission Process

Students who are interested in College Credit Plus (CCP) complete a specialized application and admission process. The completed application and required documentation should be submitted to Wright State University. In line with the Wright State Undergraduate Admission policy, high school students who maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative high school GPA will be considered for admission.

General Admission Requirements

  • Satisfaction of the Ohio Remediation Free Standards
  • College-level placement scores as established by the university
  • Satisfaction of all prerequisites for any selected course(s)
  • Timely submission of application and all required materials

Some important notes to consider are:

  • You should discuss CCP with your high school counselor.
  • A letter of intent to participate in CCP should be submitted to your school.
  • All the steps below must be completed to be considered for the program at Wright State.
  • Additional procedures are required for non-public and home-schooled students.

If you are a current CCP student at Wright State, you do NOT submit a new application for the Fall 2023–24 school year. You DO complete a letter of intent letting your school district and state know that you plan to participate for the upcoming year.

Students who applied to College Credit Plus last year but did not register for classes, DO need to reapply to College Credit Plus.

How to Enroll

  • Complete and submit the online College Credit Plus Application
  • Submit official high school transcripts

Students going into grades 10, 11, and 12 who have obtained an unweighted 3.0 or better cumulative GPA, will be admitted to Wright State without test scores.

  • Students who are signing up for an English composition course through Wright State will be placed based on the following:
    • HS GPA of 3.2 or higher is a measure that can be used for placement into 1100
    • HS GPA of at least 2.9 and up to 3.1* is a measure that can be used for placement into 1140
  • Students signing up for any math course, or any course requiring a math prerequisite through Wright State, are required to submit ACT or SAT scores or complete our math placement assessment.

Students going into grades 7, 8, and 9 are required to submit ACT or SAT scores or complete our writing and math placement assessments.

Any student who has below an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA, is required to submit ACT or SAT scores or complete our writing and math placement assessments.

These changes are in accordance with the Ohio Department of Higher Education CCP Guidance and Flexibility Document.

Non-Public and Home-School Students

Non-public, non-chartered non-public, and home-schooled students may participate in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program by following additional procedures. Carefully follow the enrollment process outlined above. Additionally, as a non-public school attendee, you must be awarded funds by the state to cover your tuition costs to participate in CCP. The amount of the funds awarded will regulate the number of credit hours you can take. It is wholly the student's responsibility to secure available funding.

Please refer to the Ohio Higher Education website for important windows and deadlines. Important Note: In order to proceed with a student’s enrollment, Wright State must receive that student’s award notification.

Once a student receives a Funding Award Letter, it may be delivered to Wright State by several methods.

Selective Service Registration

Almost all male U.S. citizens, regardless of where they live, and male immigrants, whether documented or undocumented, residing in the United States, who are 18 through 25 years of age, are required to register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday.

A man is exempt from registering while he is on full-time active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces. Members of the National Guard and Reserve Forces not on full-time active duty must register. When a man has been released from active duty he must register at that time unless he has reached age 26 or is already registered.  Lawfully admitted nonimmigrant aliens (for example, those on student visas) are not required to register.

For complete information regarding who must register for Selective Service and exemptions, or to register with Selective Services, please visit the U.S. Government Official Selective Services System website, https://www.sss.gov/

Selective Service Registration and Ohio Residency (for Tuition Purposes)

Ohio Revised Code 3345.32 (http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3345.32) mandates that Ohio students who are required to register with the U.S. Selective Service yet who have not done so are ineligible for State of Ohio tuition subsidy.  Under the law, Ohio institutions of higher learning are required to charge such students the non-resident tuition rate.  If you are considered by Wright State University to be an Ohio resident-for-tuition-purposes, but you are not registered with Selective Services, Wright State University is required by this law to assess the non-resident tuition rate to your student bill.

To continue your Ohio-resident-for-tuition-purposes classification, Wright State University is required to obtain your Selective Service Registration Number.

If you are already registered, but do not remember your Selective Service Registration Number, you can obtain it at the official Selective Services website, https://www.sss.gov/

It is the student's responsibility to provide the Wright State University Office of the Registrar with that number. If you do not provide that registration number to the Office of the Registrar, Wright State University must assess non-resident tuition fees to your tuition bill.

Students are expected to make full payment by their appropriate payment due date.  Payment deadlines may not be waived or extended while a student's residency status is under review or while you are waiting to receive your Selective Service Registration Number.
