Women's Center event

Since 1993, the Wright State University Women's Center has worked to serve women on campus and in the surrounding area through facilitating connections, providing resources, and advocating for equitable experiences and opportunities for all people. The Center actively seeks to create an environment in which women are supported, encouraged, and less isolated than what has been documented historically.

The Women's Center offers services in the four main areas:

Community & Leadership

The Women's Center is a safe, fun place for women and men to meet friends, use computers or the library, study, get involved in a student organization, develop their leadership skills, and generally be themselves. Additionally, the Center supports students who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender by serving as an ally and providing a Safe Space for all people on campus.

Programs & Events

It is vital to our mission that we provide numerous educational programs about health, wellness, feminism, activism, and other political and economic issues. Annually, we sponsor the production of The Vagina Monologues (February), Women’s History Month programs (March), Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day (April), and dozens of relevant and exciting events about women and gender issues. Visit www.wright.edu/women for a complete listing.

Resources & Information

The Center has a resource library, pamphlets about local organizations and issues, a wide range of health information, and the ability to refer you to campus and community resources.

Institutional & Individual Advocacy

The Center is a safe space for all people in need of understanding and support. The Center assists survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, harassment, hate crimes and eating disorders. The Center also actively works for an improved campus climate by recommending better policies, procedures, and practices.

The Women’s Center is co-located with and works collaboratively with the Asian and Native American Center and the Bolinga Black Cultural Resource Center to co-sponsor programs featuring the uniqueness and commonalities among the three centers.  The Women’s Center is a close and frequent collaborator with the Women’s Studies Program, an academic program with a major, minor, undergraduate and graduate certificate, and a second minor in Sexuality Studies. Additionally, the Center collaborates with other units and departments to provide programs and services to the campus community.  The Women’s Center is proud to support many student organizations, and is the home of two groups: the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA) and Wright Parenting. There are many ways to get involved in the Women’s Center, including internships and volunteering.  Visit us to learn more!
