His great joy was teaching medical students and working with his many pediatric endocrine fellows. He passed away on Nov. 25, 2019, in West Yarmouth, Mass.

Dr. Gayle tirelessly advocated for students with disabilities at the local, state, and national level. During his early years at WSU, he coached the wheelchair basketball team, winning two national championships. He died Oct. 16, 2019.

As a young man, Dr. Bognár fought in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against the Soviet Union, which occupied Hungary during the Cold War. In 1974, he began a 28-year career teaching in the WSU Department of Social Work. He died Sept. 24, 2019.

Wilma “Sue” Curry, 86, of Northridge, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at Friendship Village. She was born to James & Zona Stewart on July 18, 1933, in Tennessee.

Mary Anne Bassett Frey, 84, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. She was born to John E. and Frances E. (nee Walker) Bassett in Washington DC, on Dec. 15, 1934. She was a member of the Center for Spiritual Living.

Jay Thomas will be remembered for his measured decision making, his love of Wright State Basketball, ice cream, scotch, his wry sense of humor, but most of all his kindness and love of his family. He died Aug. 25, 2019.

Patrick Campbell

Patrick was noted for his humorous and engaging lecture style. He was a lifelong learner and a genuine intellectual with wide knowledge on a variety of subjects. Although he had a successful academic career, Patrick’s life was defined by his devotion to family. He enjoyed reading, music, dance, cooking, and photography, but his favorite activity was presiding over family dinners at his home. He died on Aug. 8, 2019.
Bonnie Mathies

Bonnie Mathies served as Lake Campus dean from 2010 until she retired in 2016. During her tenure, the school experienced surging enrollments, a nearly doubling of bachelor-degree programs (including engineering, nursing, & business), construction of the first residence halls and the purchase of nearly 40 acres for expansion. She died Thursday, August 8, 2019, in the Wayne Healthcare Hospice Center in Greenville with her family at her side.

Mae enjoyed gardening, music, string instruments and especially quilting; she and her sisters made many quilts over the years, gifted to family and friends who cherish their design and craftsmanship. She died August 7, 2019.
