Clinical Panel
Each year, local healthcare professionals are invited to participate in a clinical panel and present to students their professional roles and responsibilities. Sometimes the panel will include professionals from one area of healthcare, like family practice physicians, who talk to students about differences in private practice vs. group practice vs. clinical education. Other times the panel will include a "team" of healthcare providers who will discuss the importance of each member's role and how patients are referred appropriately.
The Pre-Health Program has hosted a number of clinical panels, including:
- Family practice physicians
- Orthopedic physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer
- Allopathic (M.D.) and osteopathic (D.O.) physicians
- Physician assistant and nurse practitioners
- Hospitals
Each fall and spring semester a clinical panel is organized for students to attend. These presentations provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the profession, the importance of teamwork in healthcare and a chance to connect with professionals in the field.

Application Workshops
The Pre-Health Program offers a variety of workshops that assist you with applying to professional schools. In general, if you have a competitive application (i.e. strong GPA, shadowing experience, completion of pre-requisite courses, etc.), you will submit your materials for review during the spring or summer after your junior (third) year. A complete application usually consists of a transcript review, personal statement, standardized test score for admissions, and letters of evaluation. The application workshops address the following areas:
- Understanding the application and important deadlines
- Writing an effective personal statement
- Collecting letters of evaluation: who to ask and when
- Preparing for the admissions test (e.g. MCAT, DAT, GRE)
- Interviewing strategies
All workshops take place during the spring or fall. Contact the Pre-Health advisor for specific details. There is no cost associated with workshops; however, registration is required.
