Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is Ending!

Wednesday, August 10, 2022

We appreciate your attention to this important message. The CaTS-ITS department-team worked with the Faculty Senate IT Subcommittee during the March 2022 meeting and shared the need for one video conferencing tool to be adopted as the primary tool used for all students and faculty. The use of one tool is not only student-centered, but also more efficient to support and provide training.

Webex was selected as the primary video conferencing tool for use at Wright State University.

The initial email announcing the change was sent out to faculty on April 20, 2022. We have extended the end date from August 5, 2022, to now August 12, 2022.

What does this mean for Blackboard Collaborate Ultra users?
Due to the adoption of Webex, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra will end at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022.

You do not need to take action to back up or move your Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recordings.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recordings have been moved on your behalf to a SharePoint storage location.  Please see this link Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Static File Storage - Home (sharepoint.com) explaining steps and a link to access your stored Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recordings.  Recordings can be left on the SharePoint Site and stored there indefinitely.

How can we help with Webex?
There are three options for training to learn more about Webex:

  1. ITS has scheduled several Webex trainings to support faculty during this transition, go to https://www.wright.edu/information-technology/instructional-technology-services-and-wright-state-online-workshops to register for an upcoming training session.
  2. View WSU training documents and videos here at https://www.wright.edu/information-technology/pilot-help-for-faculty/webex-education-connector
  3. If you are looking for additional training options, check out Cisco's Webex Training site for self-paced learning resources at https://golearn.webex.com/learn (videos) or https://help.webex.com/en-us/landing/ld-mzc23k-WebexTraining/Webex-Training (documents). Reminder: New Answer Forms for Scantron Exams

Thursday, June 23, 2022

As announced back in February, CaTS is finishing the transition from the blue and green Scantron exam answer sheets to a new black and white form, which provides cost-saving benefits to the university as well as a new and improved scanning and grading process for Scantron exams. Reports will still be available to faculty as an electronic file sent through SecureShare, or as printed copies available for pickup in the CaTS Scanning Services office.

When Will This Transition Be Complete?
July 1, 2022. After this date, the blue and green forms will no longer be accepted at Scanning Services for grading.

What Differences Will I Notice?
The main difference between the current form and the new answer sheets is that the student responses are recorded vertically, instead of horizontally (pictured below). A copy of the new answer sheet can be viewed on the CaTS website at https://www.wright.edu/information-technology/scanning-of-examinations-and-evaluations.

What Actions Do I Take Now?

The new black and white answer forms are available now for purchase through the Print Center; forms can be ordered at https://printcenter.wright.edu/home.asp and only take a couple of days to be delivered.

Questions?
If you have questions about this transition, please contact the CaTS’ Scanning Services office at scanning@wright.edu.
