Alternative Performance Evaluation Form
In anticipation of the launch of the Wright State University Strategic Plan, the University has approved an alternative methodology for the 2019-2020 performance evaluation process. If desired, units may continue to follow the university’s formal process as outlined on the HR website which has been updated with current timelines and forms.
However, due to the significant changes that have occurred in university leadership and the extraordinary circumstances the university community has faced in the last year, the alternative form provides consistent messaging for employees in a given department that shares a vision that will guide them while also recording individual achievements and challenges.
The alternative form includes:
- A brief written statement from the appropriate unit head outlining his or her reflections of their team for the past year as well as a framework for expected performance in the coming year.
- A written statement from the immediate supervisor that summarizes the conversations had with the individual employee noting accomplishments and recognized areas for progress.
- A brief written response from the employee noting their desired areas of development and plans for goal achievement.
- A signature line with a statement that this process is a reflection of the past year’s performance as well as the parties’ commitment to continuously developing goals responsive to the university’s needs as it launches its strategic plan and continues its path forward.
Full participation in this vital process is essential to our success. It is important for each of us to take time to reflect where we have been, both individually and as an institution, and decide where we want to go in the future.
