Designed for people with little to no knowledge about intellectual property marks, this free workshop reviews trademark basics: the difference between federal, state, and common law marks. Mechanics of searching the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) website and its trademark database, TESS. Hands-on portion allows participants to practice skills for determining if they can seek registration for their mark. Online filing will be demonstrated using the USPTO's TEASPlus electronic filing system.
