Susan Chrysler White: Like Oil for Water

Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, December 8, 2019
Campus:
Dayton
Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries

Wright State’s Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries is pleased to present Susan Chrysler White’s Like Oil for Water. White’s most recent sculptures evoke excess, in both scale and their highly decorative nature. Primarily a painter, White’s current three-dimensional work seems to turn her paintings inside-out, exploding them through the use of suspension, plexiglass, and transparent layers of color. Of her work, White says, “Like Oil and Water, the title of the exhibition, speaks to a tension between seduction and repulsion, beauty and danger, come hither but resist.”
