Timothy M. Walsh

Mr. Walsh currently holds a portfolio of executive roles including independent Trustee of Blackstone TORO, a private residential mortgage REIT, Investment Advisor to the $50 billion Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation, and Director of Strategic Relationships for Owl Rock Capital Partners, a direct lending BDC. Tim gained more than 30 years of direct investment experience through roles with two public pension plans, a private equity real estate firm, and a global macro fund.  He served as Chief Investment Officer for the State of New Jersey $75 billion pension fund from 2010 to 2013. Tim holds a B.S. from Merrimack College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. 

Topic: The evolution of banking: Where are we and where are we going?

Consumer demands, business needs, economic uncertainty and government regulation have stressed the banking industry.  The banking industry has not always responded well to these challenges. Filling the void are innovative smaller institutions and entrepreneurs outside the traditional banking area. Is private debt investing one solution?  Is private debt investing good for banks, consumers and investors?
