Gary A. Wagner, Ph.D.

Morning Keynote Speaker

Gary Wagner, Ph.D. is vice president and senior regional officer of the Cincinnati Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Dr. Wagner is responsible for managing the Reserve Bank’s regional stakeholder relationships in central and southern Ohio and eastern Kentucky. He is also responsible for monitoring the region’s economic environment and conducting economic research and analysis. His research interests range from regional economics to state and local public tax structures and from rainy day funds to borrowing costs and pension systems. Before joining the Cleveland Reserve Bank, Dr. Wagner served as a regional economic advisor in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, where he conducted applied research on regional and public finance issues. Prior to that, he was a professor of economics at Old Dominion University, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Duquesne University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Wagner has authored and coauthored more than 40 articles, many appearing in leading journals. He received Duquesne University’s College of Business Distinguished Research Award as well as Public Finance Review’s Outstanding Paper Award. His topic will be economic trends and data.

Dr. Wagner will kick-off the day with a drill down through the vast economic data considered by the Federal Reserve, and focus on meaningful trends and forecasts for domestic and global economic growth. The strength of the dollar, global trade issues, and more will set the stage for thoughtful day at LIFT2.
