Cameos of Caring

Sycamore Medical Center—Theresa Zwiesler

Recognition Year:
2012

Theresa Zwiesler has been a Registered Nurse for 26 years and has worked 20 of those years at Sycamore Medical Center, where she is currently a team leader in the Emergency Department. Theresa is keenly aware that a sudden visit to the emergency room can be scary and frustrating to patients and their families. Her compassion, touch, and commitment bring comfort to her patients and their families as well as diminish their pain and fear. As a seasoned emergency room nurse, she strives to inform her patients of their plan of care and encourages the same behavior in her peers. She understands the importance of teamwork and that, to make the Emergency Department and hospital function smoothly, every staff member must work collaboratively to maximize quality care. A peer writes that Theresa is clearly a self-motivated nurse who demonstrates how integrating nursing into leadership can improve the healthcare and motivate the entire department. Theresa earned her nursing diploma from the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing and her B.S.N. from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is a Certified Emergency Nurse and completed certification in the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum. She was the first Board Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse in the Sycamore Medical Center’s Emergency Room.
