Cameos of Caring

Sycamore Medical Center - Amanda Grubbs

Recognition Year:
2016

Amanda Grubbs is a registered nurse at Sycamore Medical Center in the critical care unit, where she has worked for more than 14 years. She is always available to staff and physicians when they need information or assistance. She stays on top of practices in the unit and educates staff while still performing her charge nurse duties. Many newer nurses have said they aspire to be like her one day. Staff members appreciate the way she is able to communicate with physicians, patients, and families, even during critical or difficult situations. Amanda stays educated on evidence-based practices and shares that knowledge with other staff. She knows how to work all the different equipment on the unit and is a wealth of information—it makes her the go-to person on the unit when she is working. Amanda is one of the top preceptors as she strives to keep herself and the unit updated on the best practices. She recently started her B.S.N. at Kettering College, where she also earned her A.S.N. She is certified in critical care, trauma nursing, advanced cardiovascular life support, and has her stroke certification.
She has been awarded the Daisy Award and the Employee of the Month award.
