Southview Medical Center - Jamie Dodd

Jamie Dodd works as a special care nursery nurse. Jamie was instrumental in implementing the new neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) mini-competencies to assist staff members on the maternity unit to develop and enhance skills. She serves as the lead NRP instructor and assumes responsibility to organize and implement NRP classes certifying maternity personnel network-wide. Jamie consistently demonstrates her commitment by working extra hours for complicated newborn deliveries, critical newborn admissions, or when staffing needs dictate. She also floats to other areas when needed, including mother/baby units, and helps perform newborn transitions on labor and delivery. Jamie took the initiative to work with neonatology and unit management to develop plans for new neonatal code carts based on current evidence-based practice. These carts improved access to critical equipment on the maternity unit for neonatal resuscitation. She worked with key staff members to ensure carts were stocked properly and unit staff was educated on use of new crash carts to improve newborn outcomes.
