2020

Sharon McCall has been a nurse for the past 45 years, serving in a variety of roles. As a nursing clinical instructor for the last 15 years in the B.S.N. program at Miami University, she teaches and mentors future nurses. Sharon encourages future nurses to “stop and listen to your patients and their families; include them in the plan of care, and treat them the way you would want your family to be treated.” She likewise nurtures new nurses through her role as a mentor in Atrium’s nurse residency program. Sharon maintains her clinical competency by continuing to work at the bedside full time and filling in as an administrative officer. Nurses, physicians, and interprofessional partners view Sharon as the “face and transformational leader of Atrium Medical Center.” Her team members value her expertise, knowledge, compassion, and expert clinical skills in providing evidence-based care to her patients and their families. Her stellar advocacy for patients, families, peers, and nursing students is demonstrated through her excellent communication skills as she desires nothing but the best outcomes for all. Sharon embodies a can-do attitude and is truly the “best of the best.”
