Cameos of Caring

Kelly Walden - Kettering Health Network, Grandview Medical Center

Recognition Year:
2020

Kelly Walden is a staff nurse specialist in Grandview’s Huber Heights Emergency Department. She is a board-certified emergency nurse and also teaches TNCC, ACLS, and PALS. Kelly is valued as the go-to resource for anything clinical. Not only at Huber, but also at other Kettering Network hospitals, most of the other emergency department educators call her to assist with HS assignments, competencies, teaching events, and skills days. She has covered the manager role on multiple occasions when the manager was gone, and always maintains control. Staff love and appreciate that she cares for them as a person first, then an employee. She counsels new nurses never to underestimate the power of being a nurse and to be aware of the influence they may have on younger people watching them work and hearing their stories. Kelly has also traveled to South America on several mission trips, both with her church, Salem Church of God, and the Kettering Health Network mission trips with fellow nurses. She usually assumes the role of a nurse—but just as at work, she will do whatever is needed. She portrays Jesus’ mission by showing such love and compassion to the people in the impoverished communities she serves.
