Emily Townsend has been employed as an oncology certified nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for 15 years, and has 19 years of oncology nursing experience. She began as a staff nurse and was promoted to team leader. Emily has all the attributes of an excellent nurse. She is kind, caring, and compassionate and has a special gift of instilling confidence and trust in everyone she meets, an important trait when caring for cancer patients. She is a patient advocate, always looking ahead to anticipate the patient’s needs and help ensure their treatment journey is as smooth as possible. She successfully combines the roles of direct patient care and management and is actively involved in five committees and councils. She leads her staff to embody the core values of respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence—she embodies the positive characteristics of a nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University in 1996 and is enrolled to get her master’s degree in nursing.
