Cameos of Caring

Donna Braun-Slyman - Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton

Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton
Recognition Year:
2018

Donna Braun-Slyman “is always going above and beyond to give her patients the best care,” her teammates say. Donna approaches everything with a positive outlook and uses humor to lighten the mood. One of her patients had a daughter who shared Donna’s first name, and she remembers that Donna made her mom smile by kidding she had “two Donnas” taking care of her. Donna reflects, “I respect and I learn so much from each patient’s journey.” Her teammates find Donna to be a team player who “always has a smile and is there when you need her.” In her 22 years at Hospice of Dayton, she has passed along her knowledge to a new generation of nurses. Supportive of her teammates, this past year Donna assisted in developing Hospice’s Commemorative Walk, which allows teammates and family members to pay respects to patients who have passed away. Outside of work, Donna is very active in her church, Zion Lutheran Church in Tipp City, as well as other outreach activities, including Jeremiah’s Letter, which provides assistance to the homeless, and Dayton Food Bank.
