Atrium Medical Center—Ashley Koontz

Ashley Koontz has been a Registered Nurse for 15 years and has worked the past four years as a Staff Nurse in the Surgery Unit of Atrium Medical Center. As an operating room nurse, Ashley is respected by the nurses and surgeons for her knowledge, skills, and “lead by example” attitude. When asked to cross train in Endoscopy, she accepted willingly in a positive manner. The entire Endoscopy team was grateful for her knowledge and positive attitude. She recently became the lead RN on an “on-call” committee designed to promote nurse-driven care and a voice in the scheduling of on-call hours throughout all of Perioperative Services. Although she has limited time to bond with her patients and their families, she always makes the most of the moment and provides them with support delivered with calm and encouragement.  Ashley received her Associate Science in Nursing degree from the Kettering College of Medical Arts. She is currently working on her BSN from Ohio University.
