Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Minor


Program Description

An undergraduate minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies can be completed by degree-seeking students who wish to enhance their program of study with knowledge of feminist theory, methods of inquiry, activism, and of gender and sexuality in multicultural and global contexts. 

Admission Requirements

To declare the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies minor students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and they must have completed WGS 2000 (Wright State Core Area 5). A minimum grade of “C” is required for all courses counted toward the minor, including WGS 2000.

Program Learning Objectives

Studetns in the minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies will learn to:

*familiar with scholarship and activism related to women, gender, and sexuality in multicultural and global contexts

*familiar with the history of U.S. women’s movements and theoretical foundations of feminism and sexuality studies in the academy

*familiar with experience and identity related to gender and sexuality

*skilled at critical thinking, and written and oral communication across disciplines that study gender and sexuality in the Liberal Arts

Program Learning Outcomes

All graduates with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies can:

*familiar with scholarship and activism related to women, gender, and sexuality in multicultural and global contexts

I. Program Requirements/Prerequisites: 6 Hours


II. Electives: 12 Hours


  • Four WGS-approved courses. 

* All electives must be 3000 level or above and at least two of these must be at the 4000 level. Courses in other disciplines are acceptable if they are cross-listed with WGS or approved by the program coordinator. Students should refer to the approved WGS course list for available options.

Total: 18 Hours
