Program Description

The Educational Studies degree program is offered at the undergraduate level and provides a Bachelor’s of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) degree for candidates desiring to gain knowledge and experience working with students in grades K-12 and/or community work, but who do not plan to obtain a professional teaching license. The program provides candidates with an insight into the processes of teaching and learning.    

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate familiarity with the major philosophical and sociological perspectives concerning schooling.
2. Understand P-12 learner differences and ways to positively engage with P-12 learners.
3. Explore a variety of pedagogical approaches and their purposes.
4. Understand a variety of assessment practices.
5. Demonstrate familiarity with current issues in education.

Admission Requirements

The Educational Studies degree program is designed for students who began the professional education cohort of the Elementary Education, Middle Childhood Education, AYA, or Intervention Specialist (undergraduate) degree programs but are unable to finish the requirements for that degree. There may be a variety of reasons that a student may determine that the Educational Studies degree is a more appropriate path to a degree. 

• Previous admittance into a TED cohort program (EED, MCE, AYA, IS) 
• Educational Studies Program BS Ed Admission Application signed by student, current program director, and Educational Studies director.
