CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS
why wright state
It is a small campus and easy to get around but also a larger college where you can meet someone new every day. Another big thing for me as an engineering student was the connection to Wright Patterson Air Force Base for internship opportunities.
Working with Professors
During my freshman English class, my professor would cancel the standard class time to allow time to meet with students about a paper we had to write. She would have a personal message for every student about their paper. She would see our writing style and compare it to what it should be for our major, not for what she was expecting. During our one-on-one meetings she would ask me what I wanted to do and helped me become a writer for my major, not to write a novel.
a little advice
Come and visit campus! I was originally planning to attend a different university until I stepped foot on Wright State's campus. I attended an Open House and asked the staff and faculty about Wright State and it is everything they said it was going to be.
living on campus
I loved living on campus because it's an easy way to meet friends. I also lived in a learning community where all of us had similar classes so we would work on homework together.
A few of my favorite things
My favorite spot on campus is the Russ Computer Lab. You won't hear that much but I love it there because all around you are hardworking people who are there for the same thing you are. The lab also has all the programs I need to be successful in my classes. It is also open 24 hours a day and I am a late person so I like to go in at 9 p.m. and finish up around 2 a.m.
My favorite class has been Intro to Programming in C because it expanded how to think with coding and unlock new ways your brain works.
What do you order at the on-campus Starbucks or Tim Hortons?
Starbucks - White Mocha Latte
Tim Horton's - Mocha Iced Cappe Supreme
How many hours a day to you spend on Social Media (i.e. Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest)? (come on, be honest!)
Usually 2 hours, but it depends on how busy I am that day
What is your workout routine?
Stretch to AC/DC Thunderstruck, then I either do chest and triceps, back and biceps, or legs. Then I run 2 miles after I am finished. I usually listen to metal to keep me pumped.
Where did you hang out last night/weekend?
I went to Roosters with my friends to catch up.
What's on your playlist right now?
A lot of punk rock and metal bands. I also have a country playlist I like to listen to when I drive. Lastly, Pink Floyd, The Wall, that's my homework music.
Dream job…where would it be and what would you be doing?
I would love to help increase renewable energy resources in the U.S. and research on how to make it affordable.
What is your favorite place to go off-campus? What is your favorite spot around the Dayton area?
The Cheesecake Factory, I love cheesecake. I tell my girlfriend that cheesecake and her are on the same level in my heart.
