Celebrating 50 Years

A Collection of Stories from the Wright State Community

In 2017, we asked the Wright State family—faculty, staff, students, and alumni—to tell us a personal story about their experience here, a story that reflects both the university's unique culture and its influence on their lives. Please enjoy those stories that helped us celebrate Wright State’s first 50 years of transforming the lives of our students and the communities we serve.

Andrew Call

My first day at Wright State was April 1, 2013. I stood near the Student Union, wondering how I could ever find my way around this huge campus. A student stopped and asked if he could point me in the right direction. That simple gesture helped more than he'll ever know.

Wright state was my first full time professional job outside of eight years at a gas station. Baby faced, giggly and excited Wright State hired me. Within three years, I’ve met inspiring people, grown in confidence but most importantly Wright State let me grow beyond my previous limitations.

In 1997, I joined the Boonshoft School of Medicine to help transform medical education. After completing my master degree from the Raj Soin College of Business, I migrated to the Office of Marketing in 2011 to modernize and focus our public web presence, all of which has been incredibly rewarding.
