Personal Info
I am an avid fly fisherman, but enjoy tackle fishing as well. In particular,
Northern Pike are my favorite fish to catch as of late, but nothing beats
a Brook Trout on a fly you tied yourself! |

In addition to taking several of Dr.Vadeboncoeur's ecology courses, I worked with her while pursuing my Bachelors degree in Biology at WSU. I assisted in verifying and editing data sheets for her "Borders of Biodiversity" project during December 2008, and worked on my independent research under Dr. Vadeboncoeur and graduate student Chad Schwinnen during winter and spring 2009. My Community Composition research included collecting, filtering, and then viewing algal samples under a microscope. For blue-green algae, I measured the lengths of filaments, the number of cells, and the number of heterocysts. I also counted the number of diatoms. This information allowed me to analyze the shift in community composition of blue-green algae and diatoms in response to grazing by Campostoma anomalum fish. I graduated in June 2009, and I am currently a Cytogenetics Technologist at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. I plan pursue Graduate School within a few years to study aquatic or marine biology. |
