The Wright State University Double Reed Festival is an event that brings together double reed players from throughout Southwestern and Central Ohio. The conference is a full day of new ideas and exchanges of knowledge geared towards the needs and interests of high school students, private studio teachers, and amateur double reed players. The day will include:
- Classes covering concepts of performing, reed adjustment, the English horn and contrabassoon, and literature with separate offerings for students and adults.
- Recitals featuring invited artists, WSU Faculty Woodwind Quintet, the Ambiance Trio, Burning River Winds, and the WSU Bassoon Ensemble.
- Vendors including Miller Marketing, Fox Corporation, Prairie Dawg Press, Crystal Records, Mannerino's Music, and others will be on hand for everyone to shop for double reed music, reeds, instruments, and tools or just to see the latest reed gadgets and gizmos.
- The WSU Double Reed Festival is for high school students, amateur players, and private studio teachers
- Cost of the event is $25. This will cover all the masterclasses, recitals, and events of the day and includes one ticket to the Artist Series Concert that evening.
- Everyone should bring an instrument and participate in the Double Reed Pandemonium Band!
- All festival events will take place on the campus of Wright State University at the Creative Arts Center.

Workshop Presenters:
Bill Jobert is the bassoon instructor at Wright State University. His class "From Store to Stage" will focus adjusting bassoon reeds so that students are not at the mercy of their reeds.Homepage
Bruce Gbur is the professor of bassoon and oboe at Kansas State University. He is an accomplished contrabassoonist
and is the founder and owner of the double reed publishing house Prairie Dawg Press.Homepage
Katherine L. deGruchy is oboe instructor at Wright State University and will be presenting beginning and advanced masterclasses on the English horn. Homepage

Carlos Coelho is an oboe repair specialist and owner of Carlos Coelho Woodwinds. Born in Brazil, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music and at Temple University. His masterclass will be on selecting the right instrument. Coelho Woodwinds will have a booth in the vendor hall so oboists can purchase supplies and speak to Carlos throughout the day.
Michel Bettez is an internationally known bassoonist and principal bassoon with the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal. He recorded the critically acclaimed solo album /Le
basson romantique/ for the Atma label, has toured Canada, Western
Europe, the United States, Mexico, Australia and Singapore. and is a
performaing artist for the Moosmann Bassoon Corporation. His masterclasses will be performance classes in which students will be able to participate and be coached. He is also the featured soloist on the evening concert.Homepage
Mark Ostoich has served as Professor of Oboe at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music since 1996. He has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony (interim Associate Principal), Cleveland Orchestra, Santa Fe Opera (principal oboe), Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet, Columbus ProMusica, and the Dayton Philharmonic. His master class at the Festival will work with students on how to prepare an audition or judged solo.
